Getting to Wytham Woods

If you are coming to Wytham Woods for the first time, it’s a good idea to check the route on a map before you set out so that you can find your way to Wytham village, from which you can get to the main car park.

By bike, the safest route is to come from the east via Wolvercote and Godstow to Wytham Village. From the village centre, go past the pub car park, take the single track road on the right and cycle/walk up the hill to the car park - it’s a bit steep! There is a bike rack behind the notice board.

By public bus, take the ST2 from Oxford to Wytham Village Hall stop (NOT the Field Station). From there, walk up past the pub car park, take the single track road on the right and walk up the hill to the car park - it’s a bit steep!

By car or minibus, you can get to the Village either via Wolvercote and Godstow villages, or via the A34 north from the Botley interchange.

The post code for the Woods car park is OX2 8QQ – NB it is ONLY accessed from Wytham Village (not via the Eynsham Road entrance which your satnavs might tell you is possible).

In Wytham Village by the White Hart pub turn towards the pub car park and pass it on your left. Turn immediately right into the single track road signposted Wytham Woods. Follow that up the hill through the woods to the car park at the top.

If you are coming to the Chalet in the Woods, park at the car park and follow the tarmac path up through the Woods for about a mile to the Chalet. If you need to drive to the Chalet, you need to make arrangements ahead of time.

By coach, you’ll need to come via the A34 as the route through Wolvercote and Godstow is a bit tight over bridges.
