Youth Nature Group

For 12 - 16 year olds who want to learn more about nature

We get regular requests for nature learning opportunities for secondary age students so we’ve created this Youth Nature Group to meet and learn at Wytham Woods, just outside Oxford. We will meet on one Sunday morning of each month. Parents / carers are welcome to stay or to head off for a walk round Wytham Woods. When the weather is nice we’ll suggest that you bring a packed lunch and stay on for a communal picnic.

We will take a look at the species that we can see each month, try out different methods of identifying and observing them, undertake some citizen science surveys, and examine different types of habitats. You will learn new skills, meet new people, have fun, and get to know more about nature and wildlife. Meetings will be from March to November and you can join at any time, and you don’t need to come to every session - just join in when you want. There is a fee for each event of £8 per young person. Adults go free! The Duke of Edinburgh volunteers who are enrolled in our Doorstep Nature Project will be part of this group.
